Illustration of social intolerance in the form of a novella (written in German)
This is my matura project I made during December 2009 at the mathematic, natural scientific high school in Zürich. It consists of a novella and a report sheet, was presented on 18 March 2010 and awarded with the predicate "very good".
In English: »Styling, content, but also reflexion and even the visual presentation cleary outrange requirement and expectation which one can demand from a matura project. - Last but not least, this also holds good for the working process and the final presentation which is why the overall work of Mr. Anh Huy Truong is awarded with the predicate "very good".«
Short summary
Our society is affected by intolerance. Individual character traits, opinions and appearance are run down and said wrong. One precludes that two different individuals which understand an issue oppositionally in a sense both are right; only one of them can be so! With my matura project I set myself the target to illustrate this social intolerance in the form of a novella titled "Dann war Stille". Thereby, I picture an extract of a youth's life writing in the first person so that none of his train of thoughts is hidden. My protagonist is an ostracised pupil from the present time who always puts the blame on others instead of accepting that he himself contributed a lot to his current situation. He believes that he - an abnormal human being - has to be accepted from the society while he totally refuses averaged fellow men and their mindset. With that attitude, he loses all his attachment figures during the story and eventually realises that he chose the wrong way: The way of total hatred and resistance and not the way of compromise. The final product, a pocket book with 80 pages (11.3x18.0cm) at a font size of 10.5pt, is structured in in twelve chapters and one introduction. Additionally, I wrote a report sheet which consists of a summary of the story, a characterisation of the figures, a documentation of the writing process and an explanation of thematic stresses.
